The Pastor — Bethesda would like to welcome our new Pastor, Danielle Hammett, into our congregation. We look forward to learning more about you in the coming weeks, months and years. We welcome you with open arms and with the love of Christ.
Danielle Hammett, pastor of Bethesda United Methodist Church also pastors Lowell-Smyre UMC and Cramer Memorial UMC.
Born and raised in Cowpens, SC I graduated from Brome High School in 1980. I spent a year at North Greenville. After having four children, I went back to school. I had a year at Gardner-Webb and then went to UNC-Asheville where I received my BS in Psychology and a minor in Health. I worked in Mental health for many years but knew that God was calling me into the ministry. After running for 20 years, at the age of 38 I said yes to God and began my journey into the ministry. I have served several churches and have found each to be a new and learning experience. When I was in mental health, I began helping at hospitals working as a Chaplin and trying to convince God that I was doing what he wanted me to do. That did not work well.
I have now been in ministry for 15 years!! I know that I am where God wants me. I have four grown children scattered all over the country and two grandchildren. I am working toward completing the educational requirements to be ordained as an Elder in the UMC. I hope to finish classes this year or at the beginning of 2018. I took basic classes mostly at Duke and the Advanced classes have mainly been at Emory. I have also had two years of CPE training at Gaston Memorial.
I love the beach and the mountains. I love time alone with God. I need and love my prayer and devotion time. I enjoy teaching as well as learning. I have five cats that allow me to live with them and am looking for homes if you know anyone who would love being loved.
